Dezarae Jessop

Dezarae brings a striking eye for detail and a wealth of expertise to the Dime Friday team. With more than eight years’ industry experience, Dezarae holds an International Diploma and Trade Certification in hairdressing and she’s also a qualified makeup artist.

“I LOVE WORKING IN A CREATIVE ENVIRONMENT WITH INSPIRING PEOPLE, AND I VALUE THE RELATIONSHIPS I’VE BUILT WITH MY CLIENTS – THERE’S SOMETHING PRETTY SPECIAL ABOUT MAKING OTHERS FEEL GOOD ABOUT THEMSELVES.”

She sharpened her hair and makeup skills in Tauranga before moving to Auckland to work with local and international brands on photoshoots, shows and Fashion Week before moving home to Mount Maunganui and joining the Dime Friday team.

Dezarae’s not one to sit still (she often spends her weekends making brides look beautiful!) and she’s the type of stylist who’s totally honest with her clients – she gets to know them personally and creates a unique look that works for them, rather than simply following trends.

Dezarae specialises in soft, natural colours as well as styling (from chic hair-ups for special occasions to soft bridal curls).

Chelsea Burrows

Chelsea has a passion for creating custom sun-kissed blondes as well as playing with vivid colours. Originally from Canada, she has been working internationally for many years between cruise ships and Australia, and finally decided to settle in beautiful New Zealand.

She has a great eye for finding a suitable colour for each client and designs a unique plan to fit their personal lifestyles. She has diverse education with all hair types and textures and loves working with natural curls and waves!

“I LOVE BEING IN THE SALON, EVERY DAY IS DIFFERENT AND I NEVER STOP LEARNING FROM THE PEOPLE AROUND ME. I AM SO LUCKY TO HAVE A JOB WHERE I CAN BE CREATIVE AND MAKE PEOPLE LOOK AND FEEL FABULOUS”

Also having very thick hair herself she enjoys working with coarse textures but also has a wealth of knowledge for cutting and styling fine hair types.

Chelsea also invests in her education and always make the hair condition the main priority.

Mikayla Schlooz

Mikayla brings a contagious smile, down-to-earth attitude and more than 10 years’ experience to the Dime Friday team.

Originally from Auckland, Mikayla completed her training in Wellington before moving to Sydney to live the dream for a couple of years. Like other homesick Kiwis living abroad, she eventually decided to return to New Zealand and (luckily for us!) settled in sunny Mount Maunganui.

“I’VE NEVER BEEN ONE TO SIT IN AN OFFICE ALL DAY – I GET A BUZZ OUT OF BEING ON THE FLOOR, CHATTING WITH PEOPLE AND BEING HANDS-ON THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE CREATIVE PROCESS.”

Mikayla worked for a top local salon for five years before joining Dime Friday in November 2017. She loves the variety of working with men, women and kids, and has a knack for making people feel comfortable and excited when trying something new.

While she’s experienced in all colours (from blonde and brunette to fiery red), Mikayla is the queen of beautiful, low maintenance balayage/ombre work.
